How to save Marigold Seeds
Marigolds are tried and true companion plant in a vegetable garden. They have an unusual seed compared to other garden annuals or vegetables, and with this step by step you’ll know exactly what you are looking for.
How to collect Marigold seeds
Wait for the petals to fade and shrivel.
The ‘back’ or base of the flower will turn brown and begin to swell.
Hold the brown base of the flower with one hand and grabbed the shriveled petals with the other. Gently pull apart and release the matchstick like seeds. Collect and store in a paper bag.
It is my goal with Buying Thyme to connect the community to nature and practice sustainability practices so we can better our patch of the ecosystem. Our flowers invite you to slow down, savor simple joys, and celebrate the beauty of the seasons wherever you take them, but our blog teaches you how you can apply everything we have learned, on your own property! For our Southern Ontario specific gardening tips make sure to peruse our other blog articles here.
